Zep Ironclad Liquid Protective Coating

IRONCLAD
TYPE :   Solvent-Based Protective Coating PROD.# 1365

BENEFITS :   Ready-to-use solvent dries to form a transparent, wax-type protective film of approximately 1 mm thick. For use indoors or outdoors on both ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces. Use on iron, steel, copper, brass, aluminum, and painted surfaces. One coating lasts about 6 months for outdoor and one year for indoor applications. Will not crack, chip, peel or sag from -40°F to 550°F. Resists degradation by sunlight. High electrical resistance. Polar microscopic platelets from a unique "fish scale" structure. Forms a tightly adherent bond to the base metal, even under damp conditions.

FEATURES BENEFITS

• Inhibits rust and corrosion • Provides an impenetrable film barrier which protects against corrosion, even in severe outdoor applications. Resists heat, rain, snow, salt water and many corrosive industrial atmospheres.
• Protects for months • One application normally protects outdoor surfaces for up to six months and indoor surfaces for a year or longer. Five to seven mil film protects outdoors up two years; indoors indefinitely.
• Transparent • Allows colors and markings on protected surface to remain visible.
• Electrical Resistance • Dry film has specific resistance similar to polyethylene. Resistant to galvanic (bimetallic) corrosion.
• High Thermal and UV • Film will not crack, peel or sag from -40°F to 550°F (-46°C to 288°C). Resists degradation Stability by sunlight during prolonged exterior exposure.
• Displaces moisture • Effective even when applied to damp surfaces. Creeps under the water to form a tightly-adherent bond to the base metal.
• Weldable • Dried film does not support combustion.
• Self-Repairing • Film of polar microscopic platelets form a unique “fish scale” structure. This dense layer of overlapping particles provides a virtually impenetrable moisture barrier, which is “self-repairing” when scratched or abraded.
• Easily removable • Use safety solvent or emulsifiable solvent degreaser to remove coating quickly when desired.

DESCRIPTION
Ready-to-use solvent based, protective filming agent which dries to form a thin, transparent, waxy film. Provides long term, indoor or outdoor corrosion protection for ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces. Coating can be easily removed with a safety solvent degreaser when desired.

APPLICATIONS
Use on pipes, chains, pumps, wire, cable, structural steel, equipment, parts and tools that are stored outdoors and indoors. Use on exposed metal surfaces of trucks, buses, cars, mobile homes, cabs, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, railroad cars and equipment,
mining equipment, industrial machinery, nuts, bolts and ball bearings. Recommended for marine use on anchors, barges, ships, buoys, cables, tanks and piers. Ideal for protecting equipment during overseas shipment. Wide municipal use on bridge structures, guard rails and street
maintenance equipment. Allows safe exterior storage of iron, steel, aluminum, copper, brass, bronze and chrome. Bulk product is excellent as a release agent for concrete forms.

Dries to a thin, transparent, waxy film which provides long term, indoor or outdoor
corrosion protection for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Forms an impenetrable
moisture barrier which resists damaging heat, rain, snow, salt water, and many
corrosive industrial atmospheres. Will not crack, chip, peel, or sag. Resists
degradation by sunlight. Film integrity will not fail when surface is flexed or
subjected to severe vibrational stress. Heals itself when scratched or abraded.
Lubricates as it protects. Excellent electrical resistance. Resists galvanic
(bimetallic) corrosion. Coated metals are weldable. Dried film does not support
combustion. Moisture displacement allows product to form a tightly adherent
bond to damp metal.
